The Restaurant Crotto dei Platani is an elegant and rustic restaurant in one of the most romantic spots of Lake Como.

During winter is possible to stay in the antique crotto whilst during summer guest will stay in the veranda or in the garden directly on the lake.

Is possible to reach the restaurant by boat and a wide pontoon will fit also for large boats.

The cusine combines local tradition with special recipies, creativity and flavours.

The Restaurant Crotto Dei Platani is situated in a crotto, a natural hollow which formed in a old age after that a great landslide had taken place around the north of the lake.
Crottos that are cool in the summer and warm in winter are characterized from a current of air at uniform temperature about 8°C, which makes them an ideal place both for ripening wines and seasoning salami, sausages and cheeses. That is the reason why crottos were chosen for food storage.
Because of its position between Brienno and Argegno, at the foot of Mount Gringo, during the Thirties this place became the little headquarters for the most elusive smugglers of this area, who mingled with woodcutters and local people to escape inspections.

From Crotto dei Platani that is set amongst flowers, antique plane trees is possible to admire an enchanting scenery toward the Isola Comacina, Villa Balbianello e Bellagio.
Wonderful little panoramic dining room, romantic and private like the surrounding passion flower. Here you can have dinner in the reflecting moonlight and by candlelight.

In this restaurant you will have a selection of 100 speical brands carefully chosen among the finest Italian wines by somelier Francesco Cavadini all kept inside a natural cave in the heart of the mountain.
