Hotels On Lake Como

Hotel Metropole Suisse Lake Como

Hotel Metropole Suisse au Lac is a refined hotel located in the main square of Piazza Cavour directly on the shores of Lake Como, between the Swiss border and the city of Milan.
The privileged position of this luxurious hotel on the shores of the lake, its central location in the city of Como, and the attentive oversight of the family who owns and manages the hotel, have made Metropole Suisse a mandatory stopover for generations of tourists looking to discover and visit Lake Como.

Starting after the second world war, its rooms hosted some of the most well-known names of the time: King Faruk, Princess Fustemberg, the royal family of Denmark to the Grande Inter of Helenio Herrera. Hotel guests also included stars from the entertainment world such as Renato Rascel, Aldo Fabrizi and Peppino de Filippo, and in more recent years the Metropole was chosen by Carla Fracci, Diego Abatantuono, Silvio Orlando and Giampiero Mughini.

To visit the magnificent villas and gardens that make Lake Como famous, just walk down to the lakeside pier in front of the Metropole Suisse where ferries and boats head out towards the centre of the lake and the beautiful Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo, Villa Serbelloni in Bellagio and Villa Balbianello in Lenno. The Lake also houses less famous, yet just as beautiful properties, which can be rented for events and ceremonies and can even be purchased, just like George Clooney’s Villa Oleandra. Lovers of breathtaking views can make their way up to Brunate with its charming cable railway, or visit the historic Air Club offering flights on the lake in a seaplane.

The hotel’s 71 rooms offer room service, direct telephone service, air conditioning, satellite television, pay per view films and minibar.
The renowned “Imbarcadero” restaurant offers a wide selection of wines and dishes tied to Italian and local traditions.
The location of the Hotel Metropole Suisse and the wide range of leisure activities in the surrounding territory ensure that every visitor will find what they’re looking for.
Como is a beautiful city to visit and is known for its night life in addition to its elegance and exclusive shops.
