Villa Giuseppina – Rent a Property of Como’s Glorious History
June 12 2013
In the year 1888, Mrs. Luigia Fife Argyleshire from Scozia purchased a piece of land lavish with grape vines, olive trees and mulberry on which she later developed the property that presently inspires artists and travelers.
In the opulent era of “Bella Epoque” (1880-1914), Mrs. Argyleshire commenced the work for the villa, following the architectural canons of the period and bestowed it with the name ‘Villa Giuseppina’. Its magnificent garden was marked with camphor, ginkgo biloba, acacia and beech trees.
The villa was positioned at the center of the yard under the shadow of a centennial acacia and across the Bellagio headland. Villa Giuseppina carries a discrete Liberty style with themes taken from the later Decò, noticeable from the usage of iron & glass materials in veranda, and the floral decorations on the neo-sixteenth windows.
Villa Giuseppina is close to an antique heating furnace and also neighbors a famous Liberty greenhouse used to film some famous commercial spots for TV. Villa Margherita, the holiday home of Tito Ricordi, musical editor of Giuseppe Verdi, is also nearby. During one of his sojourns at Villa Margherita, the famous musician composed some scores of the opera “La Traviata”. Here is a listing of

Mrs. Luigia Fife died in St. Moritz on 18th August, 1900 and the property was inherited by Garwwod Margaret Ann, England. At that time, Villa Giuseppina was a building complex with holiday home of 4 floors, 19 rooms, gardener house, stable, flower greenhouse, barn and much more.
After changing ownership multiple times over the decades, the villa was purchased by prestigious Kazakhstan family in 2006 that managed the property until recently.
