Villa Carlia is located on the western shores of Lake Como along the old Via Regina road in Bolvedro, a picturesque village of Tremezzo, known for its historical-artistic beauty and landscapes, along with its culinary delicacies and extraordinary microclimate, with temperatures even five degrees higher compared to other lakeside towns.
In 1676 Villa La Carlia took its name from the historic owners named De Carli and is located near Villa La Quiete, on top of a slope, connected to the road from a long staircase that constitutes the building’s characteristic element. Featuring simple architectural lines and an elegant park.
Today it is also known as Villa Pirelli, the name of the last owners.
The building, characterised by a dramatic entrance, has two symmetrical terraces in front with four Italian-style geometric flower beds. From the windows you can enjoy splendid views of the lake below, a wide stretch of the eastern shores and gaze all the way up to the enchanting Lavedo peninsula.
Villa Carlia is made up by an entrance hall on the ground floor and the entire first floor which currently consists of two independent properties measuring a total of 330m2, in addition to gardens with a view of the lake in front of the villa and a charming park in back of the villa measuring a total of 2,600m2.
The hall on the ground floor has elegant ceilings decorated with original plaster work and antique frescoes painted by hand. The hall also has a fully functioning, large open fireplace in granite. This large area is ideal for entertaining and offers views of the lake and the garden through the high windows the villa is equipped with, while the large doors open up onto the terrace and on the garden opposite the lake.
The gardens are located in back of the villa and from the back door a magnificent stone staircase leads to the upper floors.
On the first floor there are two independent properties overlooking the lake. The first consists of a spacious living room in the style of the period and two spacious bedrooms, in addition to a bathroom and kitchen – both in need of renovation. The second apartment also has a spacious living room in period style with a kitchen, spacious bedroom and bathroom.
In the gardens in front of the property there are lawns, majestic trees, palms and hedges in bloom which contribute to the creation of a beautiful and serene atmosphere for a relaxing and revitalizing reprieve!
Tremezzo is a small town whose name, which means “land in the middle”, originates from its geographic location, between the Po Valley and the pass of the Grigioni Canton.
Villa Carlia is situated along the panoramic lake road that, when heading north, leads to the tourist attractions on the shores of Tremezzina while by heading south it will take to you Como, from where trains depart for Milan and its airports. Villa Carlotta and Villa Balbianello can be reached in merely ten minutes by car, while on foot tourists can easily go to Tremezzo with its beautiful lakeside park, cafes and restaurants. The touristic attractions of Mezzegra and Lenno are also easy to reach on foot or by car.
