Built between 1903 and 1904 for a German tycoon, Villa Rosa is an architectonic jewelset in LakeComo, one of the most beautiful, renowned and sophisticated resort area in the world.
The villa is located in Griante, hamlet of Cadenabbia on the west shore, which is facing the very spot where the two branches of the lake meet.
The area is a viewpoint of rare beauty, made even more precious by the presence of historical mansions such as Villa Carlotta, Villa Melzi and Villa Serbelloni, the summer residences of Eighteen Century Milanese aristocracy.
The charm of these sites has a Gracted admirers like actor George Clooney who owns a villa in Laglio, fifteen kilometres from Griante.
Villa Rosa was originally called Villa Berta, after one of the members of the Heckt family, the first
German owners.
The portrait of Berta, in Liberty style, is still visible on the external wall of the villa facing the lake.
The actual owner bought it in 1918 and changed its name into Villa Rosa, after the new lady of the house.
The villa was also the very much loved summer residence of Adenauer, first German Prime Minister after the end of the Second World War.
The villa is set in the middle of a lush park of more than two hectars, where hundred year old trees are growing among colourful flowers.
It is crossed by a gravel driveway, surmounted by a vine pergola, which leads towards the tiny hamlet of Carsolina, adjoining with the property.
The villa is built in a style where classical and early XX Century elements are blending together.
The facade facing the mountains has a courtyard with a fountain in the centre, encircled by two colonnades.
In the park there are three buildings which can be renovate: a big garage with a flat on top and two greenhouses.
In a specific spot of the park, the master plan contemplates the possibility of building a new house.
Since his foundation the villa has the concession of a Darsena (boathouse), reachable through a private path.
